HOUSE BUILD 2014

The Illinois Wesleyan chapter partners with Illinois State as they work together to build a home for Jose Martinez and family at 1205 N. Mason Street. Habitat for Humanity of McLean County oversees all aspects of the home and it's building process. A special thanks to Dr. David Bollivar, Wesleyan's woorksite advisor, for his time and efforts.

PLAYHOUSE

For the first time ever, Illinois Wesleyan student builders and youth volunteers spend 4-5 Saturdays building, painting, and decorating a Playhouse at St. John's Luthern Church. The Playhouse will be raffled off in December. This signature fundraiser was organized by summer intern, Nick Anderson, of Habitat for Humanity of McLean County.

ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK 2013

Illinois Wesleyan University’s chapter coordinates Alternative Spring Break where students volunteer to spend their holiday break working with Habitat. Collegiate participants traveled to Laredo, Texas and spent one week working in partnership with the local Habitat affiliate, the local community, and partner families to help eliminate poverty housing in the area. The organization provided housing for the group, as well as a place to shower and cook meals for the week. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity that students love participating in.

HOUSE BUILD 2013

Chapter representatives helped build a two-story house for the Stewart family. The house is less than two miles away from campus and students built nearly every Saturday morning throughout the year. Habitat for Humanity provides students with hands on experience in construction and opportunities to actively make a difference.

cow PIE BINGO

Illinois Wesleyan's chapter held their second annual Cow Pie Bingo fundraiser on October 12th. Approximetly 650 tickets were sold and $1,421 was raised. Elyse Nelson-Winger was the grand prize winner and was generous enough to donate $300 back to the organization. Look out for us next year for a chance to win!

All proceeds go to the Habitat for Humanity, Illinois State University/Illinois Wesleyan University chapter to help local families build their own homes. To date, students have raised more than $60,000 through this program.

STATE FARM MATCHING GRANT

This year, the Illinois Wesleyan Campus Chapter received a $2,000 Matching Grant. State Farm has been a partner with Habitat for Humanity International for more than a decade, contributing more than $5 million to help build simple, decent, affordable housing.

In addition, our chapter has been awared an Action Planning Session. This is a participatory group planning workshop that an HFHI Youth Programs staff member will facilitate to develop a set plan for a successful and sustainable campus chapter.
